Seafarers’ problems are not only affecting individuals, but also the industry at its core. An unmotivated worker whose rights are violated can disrupt ship operations and even jeopardize safety at sea. This can lead to both economic losses and major problems in global supply chains.
We know that one of the biggest problems for seafarers is that the “flag state” system often undermines workers’ rights. Lack of proper oversight and opaque practices leave seafarers unprotected.
