The International Maritime Workers’ Union is a union founded on September 16, 2022, believing in the labor struggle of maritime workers and creating an effective and continuous monitoring system all over the world. The International Maritime Workers’ Union (IMU) aims to fight for the protection of the rights of local and foreign workers working in maritime activities by regulating the employee-employer relations of all maritime workers with the slogan ‘I am you’.
INTERNATIONAL MARITIME WORKERS UNION (I.M.U) IS DETERMINEDLY COMMITTED TO THE GOAL OF CARRYING THE REPUBLIC OF TURKEY TO A LEADING POSITION IN THE MARITIME SECTOR WORLDWIDE. AS AN INDEPENDENT ACTOR OF THE SECTOR, WE ARE TAKING IMPORTANT STEPS TO DEVELOP PERMANENT AND EFFECTIVE SOLUTIONS BY CAREFULLY EXAMINING THE SECTOR’S MOST COMPLEX PROBLEMS.
OUR MISSION IS NOT LIMITED TO JUST ADDRESSING EXISTING PROBLEMS. AT THE SAME TIME, WE AIM TO MAKE A RADICAL CHANGE AND ACHIEVE LABOR PEACE IN THE MARITIME SECTOR. BY CHANGING THE TRADITIONALLY NEGATIVE PERCEPTIONS BETWEEN WORKERS AND EMPLOYERS, WE AIM TO INCREASE INTERNATIONAL COMPETITIVENESS AND ACHIEVE SUSTAINABILITY BY INCREASING THE POWER OF THE SECTOR.
COOPERATION AND SOLIDARITY CONSTITUTE AN IMPORTANT ELEMENT IN ENDING THE DISTINCTION BETWEEN DIFFERENT BUSINESS LINES AND STAKEHOLDERS. WE SUPPORT THE SECTOR TO BECOME STRONGER AND MORE EFFECTIVE BY COMING TOGETHER TO OVERCOME THE CONFLICT BETWEEN EMPLOYER GROUPS.
WE BELIEVE THAT BY EMPHASISING THE IMPORTANCE OF COOPERATION AND COORDINATION, WE CAN MAKE THE MARITIME INDUSTRY STRONGER AND MORE SUSTAINABLE. AS THE INTERNATIONAL MARITIME WORKERS UNION (I.M.U), WE ARE WORKING WITH DETERMINATION TO REALIZE THIS VISION. WE ARE STRONGER TOGETHER AND WE BELIEVE THAT WE WILL REALIZE OUR MISSION OF CARRYING OUR INDUSTRY TO A BRIGHTER FUTURE TOGETHER.
In addition, we aim to strengthen the efforts of each institution or group in the sector to find effective solutions to common problems rather than focusing on individual problems. By raising labor peace, efficient work and sustainability issues to higher levels in the maritime sector, we aim to create a greater impact at the international level and to make the Republic of Turkey an exemplary country in maritime business.
